Introduction
The Miami Student is based out of Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. Established in 1826, the paper is considered the oldest university newspaper in the United States.
My Role
I was a staff writer for the Culture column for a few months at the university newspaper during my freshman year. I had decided to join such an organization because at the time, I struggled with conciseness in my writing. What better way to improve on this than to write for a newspaper, plus, have all your writings proofread my some of the most strict and talented journalists.
Results
My short-lived career as a journalist was eye-opening, to say the least. I’m a much better writer because of this experience, although I struggle sometimes to talk coherently like a normal human being, so my interviewing skill is still pretty meh.
